Cooling by HD.
Flower et al. (2000, MNRAS, 314, 753) have computed the rate of cooling of astrophysical media through the collisional excitation of HD by H, He and H2. Available at this website are the fits of the rate coefficients (cm3 s-1) by analytic functions of the kinetic temperature. Also supplied is a Fortran routine, W_HD.f, which calculates the cooling function per HD molecule (erg s-1) for any desired values of density and temperature, within their specified ranges. The cooling function has been found to be insensitive to the H/H2 density ratio and the ortho:para-H2 ratio. The data sets and brief, related information are given below.
